The Community of Memory
Our lives are full of patterns of actual habits, rituals and stories that explain them all. Oral and written cultures are included there. What is the community of memory? Basically, it begins with an event – foundational events. We, then, re-enact and represent the events of our sacrificing – through the project and a CODE of behavior. We commit ourselves one another; the commitment is our loyalty. We take the stories or events into ourselves. The next question is, why loyalty? It is because: 1) I myself is a CODE, SYMBOL, and FAITH, 2) I live in the EXPECTATION that others will be faithful, 3) I keep the stories and follow the CODE to urge and correct others. (memoir of Phillipine, 2004)
